Earnings of 100 largest companies in military industry totaled $632 bn

April 8, Fineko/abc.az. In connection with aggravation of the geopolitical situation in the world, states are allocating more funds for weapons, which affects the growth of revenues of giant arms companies.

ABC.AZ informs that according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), in 2023, earnings of world’s 100 largest military industry companies amounted to $632 billion (6.7% more than in 2022). There are 41 companies in this list from the USA, 9 from China, 7 from the UK, 5 from France, 4 from Russia and Germany, and 3 from Turkey.

From the European Union, the highest places in the list belong to Airbus and Leonardo (Italy).

These companies took 12th and 13th places respectively. Rheinmetall, Germany's largest arms manufacturer, ranked 26th with revenue of $5.5 billion in 2023. The company increased its annual revenue by 20% compared with last year.

Most of the 10 largest arms manufacturers are still owned by the U.S. and China. Below is a list of the 10 arms manufacturers that generated the most revenue in 2023:

1. Lockheed Martin (USA) - $60.8 billion (90% of revenue comes from military orders)

2. RTX (USA) - $40.66 billion (59% of revenue comes from the military sector)

3. Northrop Grumman (USA) – $35.57 billion (91%)

4. Boeing (USA) - $31.1 billion (40%)

5. General Dynamics (USA) - $30.2 billion (71%)

6. BAE Systems (UK) – $29.8 billion (98%)

7. Rostec (Russia) — $21.73 billion (29%)

8. AVIC (China) – $20.85 billion (25%)

9. NORINCO (China) — $20.56 billion (27%)

10. CETC (China) – $16.05 billion (29%).

SIPRI will publish its data for 2024 in December of this year.
