April 4, Fineko/abc.az. We are starting to implement mega initiatives. As part of this, green energy from wind farms in Azerbaijan, as well as from Central Asia, will be supplied to Europe.
ABC,AZ reports that Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov made the above-said statement during his speech at the 11th Ministerial Meeting within the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council.
According to the minister, last year natural gas accounted for 13% of electricity generation in the EU.
"In some countries, this figure has reached 35-40%. As for green energy corridors Caspian–Black Sea–Europe, Central Asia–Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan–Turkey, and Azerbaijan–Georgia–Turkey–Bulgaria, these are strategic projects that serve to diversify European energy supplies. As for the recommendations on the technical justification of the corridor, we would like to say that a joint venture has been established in this direction. The Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have started financing. There are two potential export routes. In this regard, we would like to note that a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of electric power industry between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Bulgaria is to be signed here. We are confident that the Southern Gas Corridor will become a platform for large-scale cooperation. Our joint efforts will also bear fruit at a new stage and open up new opportunities in the field of energy security," Shahbazov added.
