Kyrgyzstan wants to replace Kazakh oil with Russian and Azerbaijani oil

March 11, Fineko/abc.az. Kyrgyzstan began to buy significantly less oil from Kazakhstan. There are plans to replace it with products from Russia and Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ informs that In 2024, the country bought only 462 tons of oil from Kazakhstan, although in 2023 this figure was 7,802 tons. The reduction occurred 17-fold.

This may be linked with Kyrgyzstan's reorientation to oil from other countries. Quotas for duty-free supplies of 50,000 tons of oil and 1.45 million tons of petroleum products from Russia will start operating this year.

In parallel, the government is negotiating with Azerbaijani company SOCAR. Complicated logistics can prevent the conclusion of the contract, Sputnik Kazakhstan writes.
