February 25, Fineko/abc.az. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said on February 23 that, according to government estimates, GDP per capita in 2024 exceeded $15,000.
"Despite the earthquakes of 2023, which caused direct costs of $104 billion and indirect costs of $150 billion, Turkey has once again demonstrated its resilience and strength," Yilmaz said during his speech at a program organized for visitors to the congress of the Justice & Development Party.
The vice president said Turkey had reached a "historic milestone" with exports of $262 billion.
"Although it has not yet been fully calculated, our estimates show that GDP has exceeded $1.3 trillion and per capita income has reached over $15,000," Yilmaz added.
He stressed that the government's main goal is to reduce inflation, "which is currently relatively high".
