February 11, Fineko/abc.az. Elon Musk, who heads a group of investors, has made an offer to acquire the non-profit division of OpenAI for $97.4 bn.
ABC.AZ reports that the media has already characterized this deal as a dramatic escalation of the fiercest competition in the field of artificial intelligence in Silicon Valley.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the initiative to buy OpenAI came from an influential coalition of Musk's supporters, which included his own AI company xAI, as well as such impressive venture capital investors as Valor Equity Partners, Hollywood mogul Ari Emanuel and the firm 8VC, founded by Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, posted the following message on X: "No thanks, but we will buy Twitter for $9.74 bn if you want."
OpenAI referred to Altman's post when asked to comment on the situation. Musk's reps have not yet provided any comments on the deal.
