February 11, Fineko/abc.az. The rate of trips from Georgia  to Azerbaijan recorded growth last year.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Georgian Statistics Service that Georgian residents made a total of 2.8 million trips abroad (1.4% less than last year). However, the number of trips to Azerbaijan grew by 11%, reaching 50,000.

The largest number of trips was to Turkey (871,000) and Russia (425,000).

The main reasons for Georgian citizens to travel abroad are visiting friends and relatives (33.4%), shopping (33.1%), recreation and tourism (18.6%), work and economic activity (10.4%), medical treatment and rehabilitation (2.2%).

Georgian citizens’ overall costs abroad for 2024 totaled GEL 2.3 billion (11.3% more versus the previous year). The average cost per trip was GEL 1,008.

Azerbaijan remains an important destination for Georgian citizens both in terms of tourism and trade.
