February 10, Fineko/abc.az. Iran's electric power sector has undergone significant changes since 1978, when the installed capacity was 7,000 MW.
ABC.AZ reports that by 2023, this figure reached 93,450 MW, which allowed the country to take the 10th place in the world in terms of electricity production.
Over the past 45 years, the capacity of power plants in the Islamic Republic has increased more than 13-fold. For comparison, globally, this indicator has grown 4.5-fold for the same period. Electricity production in Iran increased 22-fold, while in the world it increased 3.4-fold.
Tehran is actively developing renewable energy sources. By 2023, the installed capacity of renewable sources, including hydroelectric power plants, has reached 12,653 MW.
