October 18, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan plans to implement projects for construction of eight solar and wind power plants with total cost of $2.8 billion until 2027 at the expense of foreign and local investments.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov’s article published in newspaper ‘Azerbaijan’.
“Implementation of plans for the construction and connection to the grid of eight industrial-scale solar and wind power plants with total capacity of about 2 GW until 2027 at the expense of foreign and local investments in the amount of about $2.8 billion indicates that Azerbaijan is rapidly moving along the path of green energy, and this is already an irreversible process," the minister wrote.
According to Shahbazov, it is expected that due to the production of 5.3 billion kWh of electricity at solar and wind power plants to be put into operation in the next three years, 1.2 bcm of gas will be released, and greenhouse gas emissions will decrease to 2.5 million tons.
