September 25, Fineko/abc.az. Steps have been taken to introduce the concepts of “smart city”, “smart village” and “green energy zone” on the occupation-liberated territories, and to create enterprises with foreign investments in the field of landscaping and decarbonization in these territories.
ABC.AZ reports that Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said about this, when delivering speech at the international carbon pricing forum in Baku.
According to the minister, the hydropower potential is actively developing in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
"Through COP29, we’ll try to inform stakeholders more widely about the projects based on the concepts of "carbon neutrality" in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions. The development of renewable energy sources through foreign investments, transformation of the liberated territories from a gray zone into a green energy zone, transformation of the Caspian Sea into a center for production and export of green energy is our priority," Jabbarov said.
The minister added that it is planned to participate in the carbon emissions assessment process taking into account the interests of small and medium-sized businesses, supporting their development trends and covering measures of state support for business development through reinvestment of finances collected in this area, taxes on carbon emissions into business.
