September 24, Fineko/abc.az. Shell has abandoned plans to build a low-carbon hydrogen plant on the west coast of Norway due to lack of demand.
ABC.AZ reports that this happened after Equinox cancelled a similar planned project in Norway.
Hydrogen produced from natural gas combined with carbon capture and storage, known as blue hydrogen, is touted as a stepping stone to decarbonizing European industry and achieving climate goals, but it is more costly than traditional methods.
"We did not see the emergence of the blue hydrogen market and decided not to develop the project," Shell stated.
