December 12, Fineko/abc.az. In January 2024, Niger expects to start oil supplies via Niger-Benin pipeline.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to the new head of Niger, Abdurahman Tchiani.
The pipeline project from Niger to Benin, built with the support of PetroChina, was launched in November 2023.
Tchiani stated on TV channel RTS that at the moment the storage tanks in Cotonou are being filled and should be filled by January, when the export phase begins.
He explained that exports will amount to 90,000 b/d. Niger now has an oil refinery with capacity of about 20,000 b/d, which mainly provides the domestic market.
According to Tchiani, Niger intends to develop the refining industry to increase profits from oil supplies.
