November 20, Fineko/abc.az. A women's bank has been founded in Zimbabwe. The existence of a separate Ministry for Women's Affairs in the country is also an indicator of how the government approaches this issue.
ABC.AZ reports that Minister of Women's Affairs, Development of Small and Medium Enterprises of Zimbabwe Mutsvangwa Monica stated about this on November 20 during his speech at conference Development of Women's Rights & Empowerment in Baku.
"The statements adopted by international organizations have been accepted by us. We attach great importance to protection of women's rights, women are equally represented in all spheres. We attach great importance to equality of men and women in positions determined by elections. Issues related to gender are reflected in the Constitution. Zimbabwe has signed a high-level pact to eliminate gender-based violence. Thus, we demonstrate that we attach great importance to women's rights at the State level. A women's bank has also been founded in our country. The existence of a separate Ministry for women's affairs in the country is also an indicator of how trusting the government is about this issue. It is important for us that women are represented in all positions, especially in decision-making bodies. For the first time, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe appointed women to the post of Attorney General, and a number of senior positions were assigned to women. Medical services are also provided at a high level to women in Zimbabwe. Major reforms were also carried out in agriculture. As a result of the reforms, women were granted land plots. Women's participation in agriculture has also attracted the Association of Women Farmers to this work. This has led to an increase in the incomes of women farmers in rural areas," she added.
