November 17, Fineko/abc.az. Several Azerbaijani banks have increased tariffs for SMS-notification services from about 40 gapiks up to 1 manat.

ABC.AZ reports that Central Bank’s first deputy chairman Rashad Orujev said this at a meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship.

He noted that banks receive these services from processing centers.

"These centers receive these services from mobile operators, and then provide them to banks. Over the past three years, the tariffs for SMS evaluation, which processing companies receive in the form of packages, have increased by about 70%," Orujev said.

He noted that there is no charge for SMS-notifications on pension cards and other social cards.

"It is estimated that there are more than 2,300 pension and social cards. There is no service charge on these cards. Many banks have completely abandoned SMS-notification services. As recently, most banks have been using mobile applications. It transmits information about operations carried out automatically online. At this time, there is usually no need to use the SMS-notification service. Most banks offer this to customers as an additional service. The client is free to use this service or not. Banks refuse SMS- notification in connection with transition to new technologies," Orujev said.
