October 17, Fineko/abc.az. The Russian government has approved a list of 25 countries whose citizens can be identified by financial transactions in the Russian Federation. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order on the occasion.
ABC.AZ reports that the list includes CIS countries, as well as a number of other states: Algeria, Bahrain, Brazil, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Qatar, China, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Türkiye.
The order was adopted in July 2023 and is necessary to implement the provisions of the Federal Law that simplifies access to financial services for foreign citizens in Russia. According to the document, Russian banks get the right to open accounts in the Russian Federation in remote format for foreign companies and citizens. To do this, they must conclude an agreement with an external financial institution that will identify customers.
After the procedure is completed, tourists will be able to open an account or deposit with the Bank of Russia without personal participation.
