Currently, the work launched in 2022 on the assignment of the status of the National Park to the Ilisu State Nature Reserve and the creation of new National Park in the Akhar-Bahar mountain range is ongoing. Preliminary maps of the territories that will be assigned to them have already been prepared.

ABC.AZ reports that the above-said statement was made by Biodiversity Protection Service’s head Firuddin Aliyev.

According to Aliyev, some infrastructure works have been conducted in national parks to attract tourists and strengthen protection. Thus, a new design concept for the entrance gate of the Shirvan National Park has been prepared and the conclusion of the relevant authorities received.

"In order to combat poaching, a new security post has been installed on the territory of Gizilagaj National Park. In order to increase the tourist potential and a good organization of protection, motorcycles, ATVs were purchased, work continued on improving ecotourism routes, new signs indicating the entrance, informant, destinations and directions for informing tourists were developed, placed on the territories of national parks. Currently, the total number of such plates is 860, the number of entrance doors is 21. Appropriate work is underway to expand the territory of the Absheron National Park at the expense of the sanitary protection zone. At the current stage, a map of the new expanded territory of the National Park has been drawn up and positive feedback from the relevant agencies has been received," Aliyev said.
