September 1, Fineko/abc.az. According to the Central Bank, as of July 31, 2023, the volume of the loan portfolio in Azerbaijan amounted to AZN 21.372 million, MP Vugar Bayramov said in his social network account, according to ABC.AZ.

“This is an increase of AZN 76 million compared to the previous month. However, official statistics show that access to loans for our citizens living in the regions, as well as those engaged in entrepreneurial activities, is still limited. Thus, AZN 16.336 million was registered in Baku from the total loan portfolio. This means that more than 76% of the total loan portfolio is in the capital. AZN 805 million were offered in the Absheron-Khizi economic region. And this means that out of every 100 loans issued by banks, more than AZN 80 are in Baku and Absheron. At the same time, this indicates that the regions' access to loans remains limited,” the MP stressed.

Bayramov added that credit investments in a number of economic regions are still small.

“For example, 151 loan investments with great potential were registered in Upper Shirvan, and AZN 229 million manats were registered in the Mil-Mugan economic region.”
