August 22, Fineko/abc.az. India, the world's largest exporter of rice, is considering further restrictions on rice exports as it struggles with rising food prices.

If this step is implemented, global supplies are expected to decrease even more, ABC.AZ reports.

According to informed sources, the government is considering additional taxes on rice exports.

Sources said that a final decision on this issue has yet to be made.

Rice prices in Asia this month rose to their highest level in 15 years amid fears about Thailand's manufacturing outlook and concerns about the South Asian country's export ban on some products.
