August 22, Fineko/abc.az. Dealers are raising the price of meat in the market, chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Agrarian Policy Tahir Rzayev said, ABC.AZ reports.
He noted that that one of the factors driving prices up is monopoly.
“Some farmers still cannot take their products to the market and sell them at low prices. There are dealers who buy cattle and small cattle in the regions at low prices, and the prices for meat in the city are rising. Therefore, certain rules must be applied here, monopoly must be prevented and farmers' access to the market must be ensured. Butcher shops should be set up at different locations so that farmers can bring their animals and sell them there. Some dealers, taking advantage of the current situation, raise meat prices,” he said.
The chairman of the committee noted that one of the reasons for the rise in meat prices is climate change.
