As of July 1, Azerbaijan's external public debt amounted to $6.576 billion, or 10% of the projected GDP for 2023.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Finance Ministry that, taking into account the funds attracted over the past period of the current year, the main debt liabilities fulfilled, as well as changes in exchange rates, the external public debt as of July 1, 2023, in absolute terms decreased compared to the beginning of the year by $116.3 million, or 1.7%.
The currency composition of external public debt for the reporting period was as follows: SDR (Special Drawing Rights of the International Monetary Fund) - 3.4%, and for currencies in US dollars - 88%, euro - 5.2%, Japanese yen - 2.8%, other currencies - 0.6%.
Liabilities with a variable interest rate amounted to 42.4% of the amount of external debt, and liabilities with a fixed rate to 57.6%.
49.4% of external public debt must be returned to creditors for up to 5 years, 42.6% - for 5-10 years, and 8% for a period of more than 10 years.
