Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are exploring the possibility of launching oil transportation via the Baku-Supsa pipeline, ABC.AZ reports.
“We have already reached agreements on the export of Kazakh oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, and the possibilities of launching deliveries via the Baku-Supsa pipeline are being discussed. In addition, as we reported, Kazakhstan began supplying oil to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline,” Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev told journalists on the sidelines of a government meeting.
In early August, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili visited Kazakhstan, where this topic was also discussed in detail.
However, since the spring of 2022, due to the lack of relevant requests for shipment in Supsa, the operation of the pipeline has been suspended several times.
The Baku-Supsa oil pipeline was put into operation on April 17, 1999. The pipeline extends to 837 km and is 530 mm in diameter. Its throughput capacity is 7.5 million tons.
