Ilham Aliyev: Declaration of November 10 was act of Armenia’s surrender

August 2, Fineko/abc.az. The signing of the Declaration from November 10, 2020 did not really ensure sustainable peace. It was not a peace treaty. It was a Declaration, de facto it was an act of surrender of Armenia.

ABC.AZ reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said this in an interview for TV channel Euronews.

Stressing that Azerbaijan has begun to put forward initiatives to find a final solution to the conflict with Armenia and has done so publicly, the head of state noted: "We’ve announced we need to sign a peace treaty. But, again, everything was vague. Then we developed the principles of the peace treaty, which are well-known principles of international law, namely: mutual recognition of territorial integrity, sovereignty, international borders of each other, delimitation of borders, non-use of force or threat of force. And we put forward our proposal. We are a country that has survived 30 years of occupation and restored justice by force. We were the authors of the new peace process. I would not say that it is going very smoothly, but we still do not lose optimism, because now we are conducting very active negotiations at the level of foreign ministers of both countries."
