July 28, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan’s SOCAR has started storing the first 50 million cubic meters of gas in Hungarian storage facilities.

ABC.AZ reports that Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto wrote about this on Facebook.

"There is good news. In accordance with the contract, Azerbaijani energy company SOCAR has started pumping the first 50 million cu m of gas into Hungarian storage facilities," he said.

Szijjarto stressed that Europe has been constantly facing serious energy shortages in the past year and a half. Due to the sanctions, prices have skyrocketed, and regular transport routes have ceased.

However, Hungary’s energy supply remained stable throughout, because the country always considered energy supplies as a physical issue, he said.

In June, SOCAR and Hungarian MVM CEEnergy signed a contract for the supply of Azerbaijani gas. Under the contract, Hungary will receive 100 million cu m of gas from Azerbaijan by the end of this year.
