July 25, Fineko/abc.az. The Russian banking sector in the 1st half of 2023 received 1.7 trillion rubles of net profit, while in June it earned 314 billion rubles.
ABC.AZ reports that this follows from the materials of the Bank of Russia.
"The net profit of the sector in June amounted to 314 billion rubles (return on capital in annual terms - 29.8%), which is 15% higher than the result of May (273 billion rubles). In total, the sector has already earned 1.7 trillion rubles in the 1st half of 2023," the Bank of Russia said.
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation noted that about half of the June profit was income from currency revaluation (153 billion rubles) against the background of the weakening of the ruble (by 7% in June). In addition, the profit was supported by income from securities (about 30 billion rubles) and dividends from subsidiaries (about 33 billion rubles). The main profit, which does not include these factors, decreased to 125 billion rubles from 250 billion rubles in May.
According to the Bank of Russia, the number of profitable banks in June increased to 245 (75% of the total) against 237 in May (73%). Following the 1st half of the year, this number amounted to 271 banks (83%) with a 99% share in the sector's assets.
