May 2, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. authorities may exhaust emergency measures in connection with achievement of the debt ceiling as early as June 1.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in a letter from U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen sent to the leadership of Congress on Monday.

"In my previous letter dated January 13, I indicated that by the beginning of June, cash and emergency measures will most likely not be exhausted. However, after analyzing the latest tax receipts to the federal budget, we came to the conclusion: if Congress does not increase or suspend the threshold of public debt before that time, we will not be able to continue to meet all the government's obligations by the beginning of June, and possibly by June 1," she said.

American lawmakers have very little time left to agree on the mechanism of a deal to raise the debt ceiling.
