Ilham Aliyev: BP to become investor in construction of a 240 MW solar power plant in Jabrayil

March 14, Fineko/abc.az. As for the power supply to the Sangachal terminal, which you are implementing jointly with BP, I can say that this project also originates from our policy in the field of renewable energy sources. We have agreed with BP that the company will become a direct foreign investor in the construction of a solar power plant with capacity of 240 megawatts in one of the liberated cities of Karabakh - in Jabrail.

ABC.AZ reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated about this at a meeting with the heads of leading German companies held in Berlin on 13 March.

Stressing that the energy generated within this project will be included in the country's energy system, the head of state noted: "At the same time, we will provide the Sangachal terminal with electricity, and they will stop using gas. And this gas will flow into the pipeline and be delivered to Europe. Thus, the situation will be advantageous for all parties involved. We get a solar power plant generating 240 MW of electricity. Thus, there will be no more greenhouse emissions at BP's Sangachal terminal, and the terminal will become more efficient. And the gas they use will be exported to Europe. Thus, this is a project that we consider very important from angle of energy efficiency."
