February 14, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, a fairly large share of materials in the construction market of Azerbaijan is imported from Turkiye. Such products as plumbing, rubber, plastic pipes, doors and windows, tiles, wallpaper, are mainly imported from this country.
On 6 February, as a result of a strong earthquake in Turkiye, more than 12,000 buildings in 10 provinces were destroyed. The authorities intend to restore the destroyed territories in the near future, construct new buildings, infrastructure, which leads to an inevitable increase in demand for building materials within the country itself.
This, in turn, will lead to an increase in prices for building materials when sold abroad.
ABC.AZ reports that real estate expert Ramil Gasimzade said in connection with this issue that so far there has been no increase in prices for building materials imported by our country from Turkiye, but it is expected:
"It is likely that in the coming months there may be a rise in price, as the demand for construction materials in Turkiye itself has grown even more after the earthquake. Mainly plumbing, electrical wiring and rubber goods are imported from Turkiye in our country. No increase in prices for these goods has yet been recorded. Usually, the growth in the construction materials market begins in March," the expert said.
