January 10, Fineko/abc.az. Last year, 66,873 Azerbaijani citizens received a residence permit in Turkiye, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs.

1.35 million foreigners received residence permits in Turkiye in 2022.

"Most foreign citizens have received a residence permit in Istanbul. Thus, their number amounted to 705,113 people," the Ministry says.

Last year, 161,434 foreigners received temporary residence permits in Antalya, 84,346 ones in Ankara and 28,452 ones in Izmir.

The majority of foreigners who received a temporary residence permit last year are Russian citizens. During the reporting period, their number reached 149,859 people.

"Last year, there were 132,041 citizens of Iraq, 115,000 citizens of Turkmenistan, 100,772 citizens of Syria, 95,000 citizens of Iran, 60,175 citizens of Uzbekistan, 45,000 citizens of Kazakhstan in Turkiye," the Ministry says.
