October 28, Fineko/abc.az. "There is an increase in money transfers to Azerbaijan. Communication with banks and our observations show that the growth is associated with the transfers of Azerbaijanis living in Russia," ABC.AZ reports quoting Central Bank’s general director Togrul Aliyev.
He noted that citizens who sell housing and other property in Russia transfer their funds to Azerbaijan.
As for the opening of bank accounts of citizens of Russia and other countries in Azerbaijan, Aliyev emphasized that in accordance with the CBA rules on opening of bank accounts, regulations on the opening of accounts by residents to non-residents have been established. Banks should take these rules into account when opening accounts for foreign citizens.
"The Central Bank did not give banks any instructions on opening cards to Russian citizens," the CBA general director added.
