ABC.AZ reports that December gold futures rose 0.07%, or $1.15, to $1,723.75 per ounce.

The price of December silver futures increased by 0.23% to $17,922 per ounce.

The US dollar index rose 0.47% to 110.05 points. This is the highest figure since June 2002.
