European Union sees alarming increase in bankruptcy filings

August 18, Fineko/abc.az. The number of bankruptcy filings in the European Union is increasing for the fourth consecutive quarter.
 

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the European statistical agency Eurostat, that in the second quarter of this year the indicator increased by 2.2% compared to the first quarter.

"As for bankruptcy filings, they increased again — for the fourth quarter in a row... The most recent data show that in the second quarter of 2022, the number of bankruptcy filings increased by 2.2% compared to the first quarter of 2022," the agency said.

At the same time, the number of registrations of new companies in the EU decreased by 1.2% in the second quarter compared to the first. The indicator has been decreasing since the beginning of the year, but for the first two quarters of 2022, it was higher than in the pre-pandemic period of 2019.
