Quantity of payment cards in circulation has increased

August 3, Fineko/abc.az. For the first 6 months of 2022, the volume of non-cash payments in the country has significantly increased, and the use of contactless technologies and e-commerce has expanded.

The number of payment cards in circulation as of 1 July amounted to 12.7 million, and 69.4% of them support contactless payments, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Central Bank.

The debit cards made up 88% (11.1 million payment cards) credit cards - 12% (1.6 million cards). Compared with Jan-Jun 2021, the number of payment cards increased by 21%, including contactless cards by 64%.
