January 27, Fineko/abc.az. The strengthening of the manat increased the volume of deposits in the national currency. According to the Central Bank, as of 1 December 2019 the amount of population’s deposits at banks in the national currency increased by 7.5% (versus the 2018 same term) up to AZN 8.68 bn.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that 54.1% of deposits were made in foreign currency and 45.9% in national currency. Deposits in national currency grew by 32% (against the 2018 same term), while deposits in foreign currency decreased by 7.1%.

In December the average exchange rate of the national currency to the US dollar was AZN 1.70 (AZN 1.70 since the beginning of the year), AZN 1.89 (AZN 1.90) to 1 euro, AZN 2.70 (AZN 2.63) to 100 Russian rubles.
