October 27, Fineko/abc.az. As of the end of September 2026, the number of payment cards in circulation in the banking system and Azerpocht LLC system increased by 414,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 23.388 million, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Compared with Jan-Sept 2025, this figure grew by 9.5%.

The number of debit cards increased by 11%, while the number of credit cards dropped by 3.9%.

The country numbered 3.435 million social cards, 3.91 million salary cards and 14.827 million other debit cards in the debit card structure.

Since the beginning of the year, the volume of internal non-cash transactions has grown by 11.7% versus Jan-Sept 2025.

In September 2026, the volume of domestic non-cash payments made with the use of payment cards reached 8.977 billion manats. Of this amount, 7.755 billion manats accounted for e-commerce, 1.22 billion manats for operations through POS-terminals, and 2 million manats for operations through self-service terminals and ATMs.

Since the beginning of the year, non-cash internal transactions with the use of payment cards have made up 69.7% of the total volume of internal card transactions.
