October 22, Fineko/abc.az. Norway’s $2.3 trillion Sovereign Wealth Fund (Norges Bank Investment Management) reported a 0.5% negative return in the third quarter, driven down by losses in fixed-income investments.
While equity holdings returned 0.5%, it was insufficient to offset a 3.5% loss in fixed income. The fund's overall return fell 0.18 percentage points below its benchmark index set by the Norwegian Ministry of Finance.
Trond Grande, Deputy CEO of the fund, noted that rising interest rates weighed heavily on fixed-income performance. Investing in over 7,200 companies globally, the fund’s largest holdings include major tech firms such as Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta.
