September 25, Fineko/abc.az. In his speech at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov spoke about the changes in the global economy and Azerbaijan's strategic position.

He noted that businesses and governments are currently reviewing their investments, trade and partnership priorities, and globalization is changing its shape. In this process, along with efficiency, the reliability of partners and the sustainability of supply chains are becoming increasingly important in decision-making.

According to the minister, the pandemic, disruptions in transportation and geopolitical tensions experienced over the past six years have demonstrated how quickly seemingly distant shocks can paralyze production and trade. Tariffs, subsidies and export controls affect competition in strategic areas, and the desire for sustainability, in turn, increases the cost of production. In such circumstances, Governments, even if they cannot neutralize all external risks, are able to make their policies more predictable and ensure compliance with agreements.

Jabbarov stressed that Azerbaijan's response is to build trust, focus on long-term partnership and strengthen interregional ties. The modern model of cooperation, the foundation of which was laid in 1994 by the Contract of the Century on the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev, has been successfully continuing for more than 30 years.

He added that Azerbaijani gas is currently supplied to 16 countries, 10 of which are members of the European Union. This atmosphere of reliability encourages foreign companies to reinvest in our country, in particular, in the field of renewable energy sources, as well as in traditional energy.
