July 27, Fineko/abc.az. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that Washington, during bilateral trade consultations, has pledged to limit the maximum level of retaliatory customs duties on Chinese goods to a ceiling of 20%.

Beijing noted that given the current level of retaliatory tariffs at 12.5%, the US side still has a range of 7.5 percentage points for possible additional increases.

Earlier, the US Trade Representative (USTR), following an investigation under Section 301 regarding the use of forced labor, announced the imposition of 10% or 12.5% tariffs on 60 trading partners.

The Chinese authorities emphasized they will continue to closely monitor further US actions, reserve the right to take all necessary retaliatory measures, and urge Washington to lift the unilateral tariffs.
