The New York Times reports. U.S. suppliers currently account for roughly two-thirds of Europe's total liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports—a share projected to reach 80% by the end of the decade.

According to the report, this growing dominance has raised alarms among European defense and energy policymakers. European officials fear that replacing Russian pipeline gas with American LNG grants Washington unprecedented geopolitical leverage and bargaining power over the continent's internal energy and economic policies.
