August 3, Fineko/abc.az. US manufacturing activity surged to its highest level in more than four years in July, underpinned by robust demand, accelerating production, and a rebound in factory employment.
The ISM Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 55.6 in July, marking its strongest reading since May 2022. Readings above 50 signal expansion, with the manufacturing sector holding above this threshold for seven consecutive months.
Key Indicator Highlights:
Production Index: Advanced to 58.5, reaching its highest point since late 2021.
Employment Index: Entered expansion territory for the first time in 33 months (since September 2023), confirming that manufacturers are expanding headcount.
Exports & Imports: The New Export Orders Index climbed to 53.0 (highest since March 2022), while the Imports Index rose to 55.7 (strongest performance since June 2021).
Prices Index: Softened to 71.1, but remains well above levels seen earlier in the year.
