July 1, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan's strategic position within global energy architecture and its critical capacity inside Europe's resource diversification matrix continue to expand.

According to ABC.AZ, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev delivered these indicators during a joint press brief alongside the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. Highlighting that energy security has structurally shifted into a core matter of national interest for every sovereign state, the Head of State noted that half of Azerbaijan's total natural gas exports are currently channeled directly to EU member states. To date, 10 European Union countries import Azerbaijani gas, with clear pathways available to expand this geographical footprint.

President Aliyev underscored that Baku has deployed extensive political, diplomatic, and financial capital to build out the required transport networks, stating: "The Southern Gas Corridor is the result of our joint efforts." Addressing cross-border logistics, the Head of State also emphasized that transit cargo volumes passing through Azerbaijani territory are rising across all directions, supported by heavy, ongoing capital investments in infrastructure projects both domestically and within the neighboring perimeter.
