June 23, Fineko/abc.az. The Hungarian parliament approved a package of reforms necessary to receive €16.4 bn from EU funds. Changes concern the rule of law, judicial independence and the fight against corruption.
ABC.AZ reports that the document was supported by the majority of the ruling party's deputies, the opposition opposed it. The reforms provide for increased transparency in public procurement, control over the assets of officials, expanded powers of anti-corruption bodies and joining the European Prosecutor's Office.
The adoption of the law is linked to an agreement with the European Commission, but the opposition considers Brussels' demands to be a threat to the country's sovereignty.
