Money transfers from Kuwait to Azerbaijan increased by 34.9%

June 19, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st quarter of 2026, the total volume of individual money transfers between Azerbaijan and the Persian Gulf countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait) amounted to $26.34 million.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, that $20.33 million accounted for money transfers to Azerbaijan and $6.01 million for money transfers from Azerbaijan to these countries.

As a result, the positive balance of Azerbaijan's money transfers with the Persian Gulf countries totaled $14.32 million. For comparison, in the 1st quarter of 2025, this figure was $11.13 million. Thus, the positive balance for the year grew by 28.6%.

The money transfers from the UAE to Azerbaijan reached $9.89 million (27.4% more year-on-year). Transfers from Azerbaijan to the UAE decreased by 4.6% to $5.17 million. As a result, the balance amounted to $4.73 million, compared with $2.35 million in the same period of last year.

The money sent from Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan totaled $5.79 million. This indicator declined by 2.6% year-on-year, but the country retained the 2nd place in the Persian Gulf region in terms of money transfers to Azerbaijan.

Money transfers from Qatar to Azerbaijan decreased by 13.9% to $3.84 million. Nevertheless, Qatar remains one of the largest sources of money transfers to Azerbaijan.

The volume of funds sent from Kuwait to Azerbaijan grew by 34.9% up to $800,000.
