First plant for production of aviation fuel from CO₂ launched in U.S.

June 11, Fineko/abc.az. In Washington State, Twelve has launched the first commercial AirPlane One plant in the United States for the production of synthetic aviation kerosene E-Jet from trapped atmospheric co₂, water and renewable electricity.

ABC.AZ reports that the fuel is identical in properties to conventional kerosene and can be used in existing aircraft without modifications, while the project aims to close the carbon cycle in aviation and reduce emissions.

However, the plant's capacity is still minimal, and the cost of fuel remains high - several times higher than traditional jet fuel, which makes the project more of a technological demonstration than a mass alternative to oil.
