June 2, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan aims to further expand production and export opportunities through new gas projects.

ABC.AZ informs that Azerbaijan's Deputy Energy Minister Kamal Abbasov stated this during panel discussions on the second day of the Baku Energy Week.

According to Abbasov, work is currently underway on the full-scale development of the Absheron field, the second stage of the Umid field, the Shah Deniz Compression projects, as well as deepwater gas and Bahar at the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) field.

Abbasov recalled that Azerbaijan has increased the number of importing countries of its gas to 16, of which 10 are EU states: "Azerbaijan has turned from a gas importing country into a net exporter. In 2025, we exported 25 bcm of gas. Currently, the number of countries receiving Azerbaijani gas has reached 16. This shows both that Azerbaijan is a reliable supplier and the growing demand for the diversification of energy sources in Europe. Azerbaijan's gas is exported to international markets through 4 main export pipelines. Among these routes, the South Caucasus pipeline, which is an important segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, is of particular importance."
