May 25, Fineko/abc.az. As of May 1, 2026, the assets of the banking sector of Azerbaijan totaled 57.355 bn manats (5% more than on May 1, 2025), ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The net loans given to customers amounted to 28.734 bn manats of banks' assets. Over Jan-Apr 2026, sector's loan portfolio has grown by 8.7%, and the share of loans in assets from 48.4% to 50.1%.

Banking sector's liabilities grew by 4.35% up to 49.695 bn manats, including the deposit portfolio by 2.8% up to 37.77 bn manats.

Of them, 17.272 bn manats are deposits of individuals and 20.498 bn manats are deposits of legal entities. The household funds in banks decreased by 18.7%, while company funds in banks decreased by 7.7%.

Over Jan-Apr 2026, banks' liabilities to the CBA declined by nearly 20% to 400,000 manats.

The balance sheet capital of the sector grew by 9.7% up to 7.66 bn manats.
