Copper prices fall to a one-week low because of strengthening of US dollar and weak data from China

May 18, Fineko/abc.az. Copper prices have dropped to their lowest in a week on Monday under pressure from a stronger US dollar, disappointing economic data from China and rising oil prices.

ABC.AZ informs that the benchmark three-month copper contract at the London Metal Exchange declined 2.75% to $13,555.00 per metric ton as of 11:19 a.m.

The decline in copper prices reflects pressure from a number of factors, including the dynamics of exchange rates and the economic performance of China, a major consumer of industrial metals.
