China launches world's largest floating wind turbine: its capacity is enough for 24,000 homes

May 8, Fineko/abc.az. The installation was installed in early May in the water area nearly 70 km from the coast of Yangjiang in Guangdong province. The turbine is installed on a semi-submersible floating platform, which allows adjusting to the waves and currents.

ABC.AZ reports that length of the blades exceeds 270 m and the diameter of the rotor is 252 m, which is the area of approx. seven football fields. The base capacity will be 44.65 million kWh of electricity a year, which will be enough for close to 24,000 households.

It is noteworthy that the turbine was installed in the port of Teshan, and then towed through the Qiongzhou Strait to the installation site.
