May 6, Fineko/abc.az. The processing of products remains the main priority in Azerbaijan's agriculture.
ABC.AZ reports that Deputy Minister of Economy Azer Bayramov made the relevant statement at the V Agribusiness Development Forum in Baku within the Caspian Agro Week.
According to the deputy minister, under conditions of limited land and water resources, a more professional approach to development of the industry and increased access to resources are needed.
"The expansion of the agricultural insurance system, risk maps and insurance coverage will create conditions for more sustainable use of state support by farmers. At the same time, support of the cooperation model can systematically solve the problems of small producers related to the scale of their activities and market entry," Bayramov said.
He also stressed the importance of deepening the value chain.
"We believe that deepening the value chain is another priority. The main area that generates added value is processing. Deepening the processing of meat, milk, fruits, vegetables and grapes, as well as formation of production and processing clusters can directly contribute to productivity growth, export earnings and regional development," the deputy minister said.
Bayramov points out that important elements of this work are expansion of the network of cold storage facilities and grain elevators, as well as development of infrastructure for milk collection.
"At the same time, deployment of such infrastructure should be planned taking into account geography of production, logistics routes and promising export destinations," Bayramov added.
