Lithuania expects to switch to its own electricity production by 2028

January 7, Fineko/abc.az. Lithuania will fully meet its electricity needs from its own resources in 2028.

ABC.AZ informs that Minister of Energy of the Baltic Republic Zygimantas Vaiciunas stated this on the air of national radio LRT.

"Lithuania continues to increase its renewable energy capacity. Our goal is to fully meet the demand for electricity through our own production in 2028," he said.

According to the minister, Lithuania produced 70% of the required electricity in 2025.

"There were days when production even exceeded the needs of consumers. There were 5 such days in 2024, and 70 in 2025," Vaiciunas said.
