Minister: This year, gas supplies to Hungary grew more than 7-fold versus last year

December 10, Fineko/abc.az. Nearly 53 million tons of Azerbaijani, Kazakh and Turkmen oil were delivered to Turkey and international markets via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in 2024 and January-November 2025.

ABC.AZ reports that Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov made the relevant statement at the 5th meeting of Energy Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Istanbul.

According to the minister, during this period, Turkey was provided with 18.7 bcm, and European countries through Turkey with 24.6 bcm of gas: "This year, gas supplies to Hungary increased more than by 7 times compared to last year. Our countries have intensive cooperation in the supply of petroleum products and petrochemical products."

The minister noted that development of OTS occupies an important place among Azerbaijan's strategic priorities: "Last year, trade turnover with the member countries and observers exceeded $7.3 billion. From 70 to 80% of our mutual investment portfolio of more than $20 billion is in the energy sector. Joint investment funds and numerous projects, especially cooperation in the energy sector, make an important contribution to economic growth, and the dynamics of the sector clearly show this."

He stressed that the commissioning of Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline, the joining of Turkiye Petrolleri to the Shafag-Asiman project and the supply of 366 million cu m of gas to Syria so far demonstrate new successes of the strategic alliance with Turkey.

Shahbazov also recalled that these days the project of exploration and exploration in Ustyurt region was officially launched with joint cooperation of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Uzbekneftegaz, and a joint operating company was established.
