BP rep about plans of extra oil production of over 2 bn barrels at ACG

15:36 - 25.11.2025

November 25, Fineko/abc.az. Additional production of over 2 billion barrels of oil is planned at field block Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea due to the comprehensive modernization of the field and the introduction of new technologies, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Afgan Huseynov, BP's ACG Site Development Manager.

According to Huseynov, implementation of the current program will increase potential production at the field by developing deeper layers, optimizing injection systems and drilling new wells. Huseynov noted that work on development of deeper and lower horizons has been expanded, and the efficiency of water and gas injection has been significantly increased, which ensures long-term stability of production.

The BP representative stressed that the static and dynamic modeling of the block has been improved thanks to information collected from more than 700 wells and the results of DTS observations at depths of over 16,000 m. This made it possible to accurately map the complex structure of the strata.

He added that in recent years, more than 20 new injection wells have been commissioned at ACG, which has provided about 300,000 barrels of additional production potential.
